Hedi Turki
Tunisian painter, watercolorist and drawer (1922-2019)
Hedi Turki (15 May 1922 – 31 March 2019) was a Tunisian artist. He was thought to have been an important figure of abstract painting in Tunisia. He was an influential member of the School of Tunis.[1] He was born in Tunis and was of Turkish origin. In 1959, he traveled for three months in the United States, where he discovered the abstract art at Columbia University.

From 1963 to his retirement in 1985, he taught art at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Tunis. He continued to travel, study and, work during his career, particularly in England (1971), Nigeria (1977) and the United States (1979).
Turki died on 31 March 2019 in Tunis, aged 96.[1]
