History
changeConstruction of the Hohola Mosque began in 2001 when the government gave land to a local Islamic group.[1] Building started in 2004 and finished in 2007,[2] making it the first mosque in Papua New Guinea.[1] Most of the funding came from Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.[3] In 2018, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad visited the mosque after the APEC conference.[1]
