2012–2019 Philippine Islamist militant group

The Islamic State of Lanao is a Islamist militant group created by former members of the Moro Liberation Front and it is led by Omar Maute, the alleged founder of the group which operates in Lanao del Sur in the Philippines.[10][11][12][13] The group has been called a terrorist group by the Philippine Army due to how it takes protection money.[14][13]
