István Nemere

Hungarian writer and translator (1944–2024)

István Nemere (8 November 1944 – 15 November 2024) was a Hungarian novelist, Esperantist, and translator. He wrote 744 published books,[1] mostly in Hungarian, over twenty novels in Esperanto.[2] Nemere said that the movie Demolition Man was plagiarized from one of his novels.[3] He was born in Pécs, Hungary. His first book was published in 1974.

On 8 November 2024, Nemere was hospitalized for a heart attack on his 80th birthday in Tiszaeszlár, Hungary.[4] He died one week later on 15 November, aged 80.[4]
