James, Earl of Wessex[1][2] (born 17 December 2007) is younger child and only son of Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.

He was born at Frimley Park Hospital in Frimley, Surrey. He is the youngest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and a nephew of King Charles III.

Because he is the oldest son of a duke, he has the official title of Earl of Wessex but his father's dukedom will revert to the Crown upon his death. James can now be entitled "His Royal Highness Prince James of Edinburgh". But as per their parent's wish he styled simply as the "Earl of Wessex"
