The Jamia Mosque or Shelley Street Mosque (Chinese: 些利街清真寺) is a mosque in Hong Kong, People's Republic of China. It is the first and oldest mosque in Hong Kong.[1]
History
changeThe original building of the mosque was built in 1890 during the British Hong Kong government as the Mohammedan Mosque on a piece of land rented by the government in 1850. In 1915, the building of the mosque was expanded and it was renamed to Jamia Mosque after World War II.
Architecture
changeThe mosque building is included into the Grade I Building in which it is considered as a historical building which needs to be protected and conserved.
