Jeff Baena

American screenwriter and film director (1977–2025)

Jeffrey Baena (June 29, 1977 – January 3, 2025) was an American screenwriter and movie director. He wrote and directed Life After Beth (2014), Joshy (2016), The Little Hours (2017), Horse Girl (2020), and Spin Me Round (2022), and co-wrote I Heart Huckabees (2004).

Baena was married to actress Aubrey Plaza from 2021 until his death.

On January 3, 2025, Baena was found dead at his home in Los Angeles, California at the age of 47.[1] His death was ruled as suicide by hanging.[2][3]
