Jerry Van Dyke

American stand-up comedian

Jerry McCord Van Dyke (July 27, 1931 – January 5, 2018)[1] was an American stand-up comedian, actor, and comedian. He performed in many television sitcoms and Big Lots commercials. His comedic acting goes back to the 1960s. He was the younger brother of Dick Van Dyke.

Early lifeEdit

Van Dyke was born Jerry McCord Van Dyke in Danville, Illinois on July 27, 1931. His parents were Loren (nicknamed "Cookie") and Hazel (née McCord) Van Dyke. He was of Dutch ancestry on his father's side and of English and Scottish ancestry on his mother's side. His mother is a Mayflower descendant.

DeathEdit

On January 5, 2018, Van Dyke died of heart failure at his ranch in Malvern, Arkansas at the age of 86. He had been in declining health since being involved a car accident two years earlier.[2]
