John Britton
John Henry Britton (1923 London – 5 June 2004) was a English and Kenyan Paralympic swimmer. He later moved to the United States and worked as a teacher.[1]

Life
changeBritton became paralyzed in 1966. It was caused by a fall at his home. He represented Great Britain at the 1968 Summer Paralympics where he had won a gold medal in freestyle swimming.
After the Paralympics, he moved to Kenya. He represented Kenya at the 1972 Summer Paralympics in Heidelberg, Germany. He won a gold medal. Britton was aslo the Kenyan coach in Heidelberg.[2][3] While living in Kenya, he worked to create a 40-bed hospital in the country for paraplegics.[5][6]
Following the 1972 Games, Britton moved to the United States and took a teaching position at Northern Illinois University. He continued to live in the United States until his death in 2004 in Florida.[1]
