John Fahey (politician)

Australian politician and Premier of New South Wales (1945–2020)

John Joseph Fahey AC (10 January 1945 – 12 September 2020) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the Liberal Party of Australia. He was Premier of New South Wales from 1992 to 1995. He also served as Minister for Finance from 1996 to 2001. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1984 to 1996 and the Australian Parliament from 1996 to 2001.

Fahey also was president of the World Anti-Doping Agency and later became chancellor of the Australian Catholic University.

Fahey was born in Wellington, New Zealand. He was married to Colleen Fahey. The couple had three children.

Fahey died of leukaemia on 12 September 2020 at the age of 75.[1][2]
