Jonas Mekas
Lithuanian filmmaker (1922-2019)
Jonas Mekas (December 24, 1922[1] – January 23, 2019) was a Lithuanian-American filmmaker, poet and artist. He was often called "the godfather of American avant-garde cinema." His work were exhibited in museums and festivals worldwide.

His best known works were Walden, Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania and As I Was Moving Ahead Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty.
Mekas died on January 23, 2019 at his home in New York City at the age of 96.[2]
