José Vicente Rangel

Venezuelan politician and journalist (1929–2020)

José Vicente Rangel Vale (10 July 1929 – 18 December 2020) was a Venezuelan leftist politician. He ran for President three times in the 1970s and 1980s and later supported Hugo Chávez.

Rangel served under Chávez as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1999 to 2001, as Minister of Defense from 2001 to 2002, and as Vice President of Venezuela from 2002 to 2007.[1][2]

Rangel died on 18 December 2020 in Caracas from cardiac arrest after having a long-illness at the age of 91.[3]
