Jyoti Ratre (age 55) is a Bhopal-based entrepreneur turned mountaineer,[1] living in Madhya Pradesh.[2][3]

Early life and Professional career

In 2021, she hiked Mount Elbrus (5,642 meters), the highest mountain in Europe, and Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters),[4] the highest mountain in Africa. She has also ascended Mount Kosciuszko in Australia, Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse in Nepal's Sagarmatha National Park, and Mount Aconcagua in Argentina.[2]

In 2021, Jyoti Ratre also became the oldest Indian woman to scale Mount Elbrus, the highest peak of the Caucasus Mountains.[5]

In 2024, along with 15 other members of the 8K Expeditions team,[6] headed by Bolivian climber David Hugo Ayaviri Quispe, Jyoti Ratre achieved the feat of climbing Mount Everest at the age of 53[7] and became the oldest Indian lady to have achieved this accomplishment.[8][9][10]
