Death of a Canadian man who was riding a bus

On July 30, 2008, Tim McLean, a 22-year-old Canadian man, was stabbed several times, beheaded, and cannibalized while riding a Greyhound Canada bus by a Chinese-Canadian man Vincent Weiguang Li.

The attack

According to witnesses, McLean was sitting in front of the restroom and Li sat next to him. As the bus made a stop, whilst McLean was sleeping with his headphones on, Li suddenly began to stab him in the chest and neck with a large knife. After the attack began, the bus driver stopped on the side of the road, and the driver and all the other passengers fled the vehicle. The attacker then decapitated McLean and displayed his severed head to other passengers outside who had fled the bus.

On July 31, 2008 at 1:30 a.m., the suspect attempted to escape from the bus by breaking through a window; however, the bus driver and a few passengers who were brandishing weapons to prevent the suspect from the leaving the bus. He was quickly apprehended, handcuffed and placed in the back of a police cruiser.
