US home video company

MGM Home Entertainment is a home video company was formed in 1998 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and replaced MGM/UA Home Video. Its holding company is MGM Studios Home Entertainment. MGM Home Entertainment deals with MGM and UA movies, and TV shows on VHS, later laserdisc and DVD.

In 2005, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment shut down MGM Home Entertainment and now DVDs and Blu-ray. MGM revived its home video division to discontinue their distribution agreement with Sony in 2006 when they signed a new distribution deal with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. As a result, MGM Home Entertainment became a separate entity from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
