Marie-José Chombart de Lauwe

French resistance fighter

Marie-José Chombart de Lauwe (née Wilborts; born 31 May 1923) is a French sociologist, activist and World War II resistance fighter. She was born in Paris. In 2008, she was honored with the Legion of Honour.[1]

During World War II, she was arrested by the Gestapo to La Santé Prison. She was nearly executed.

In 1954, she began working for the National Centre for Scientific Research. In 1996, she became Chair of the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Déportation.
