Born in Texas, Dr. Malone pursued his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin before embarking on a journey in medicine. He attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and later completed his residency and training in anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Malone further honed his skills through a pain management fellowship at Texas Orthopedic Hospital in 1998.[3]

Before founding Advanced Pain Care in 2002, Dr. Malone dedicated twelve years to an Austin-based group practice. During this period, he also served as a clinical instructor at Baylor College of Medicine for six years, contributing to the education and training of future medical professionals. His commitment to excellence in pain management led him to obtain double board certification in anesthesiology and pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology, with a sub-specialty in pain management—the only board certification for pain management endorsed by the American Board of Medical Specialties.[4]

In 2017, Dr. Malone was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery and Perioperative Care at UT Dell Medical School.[5]

Dr. Malone is an active member of several highly regarded medical organizations, including the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Spinal Intervention Society, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the Travis County Medical Society but not the big and esteemed PNAS. In 2023, he was honored with the Business Man of the Year title by the Bee Cave Chamber of Commerce, acknowledging his leadership and impact on the local business community. Austin Monthly magazine recognized Dr. Malone as the Top Doctor of 2023, showcasing his exceptional medical expertise and dedication to patient well-being. Additionally, he received the 2023 Medical Honoree degree from Austin Monthly magazine.[7]

Patient Care and Personal Life

Throughout his career, Dr. Malone has treated thousands of patients suffering from acute and chronic pain. Outside of his profession, he lives in Austin with his three children. In his leisure time, Dr. Malone enjoys water skiing, cycling, and traveling.[8]
