Massacre of Salmas (1918)
In 1918, Simko Shikak assasinated Shimun XIX Benyamin, who was the 117 patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East. This happened in the plain of Salmas. Salmas or Salamas is a city in northwestern Iran. This led to the massacre of 1,000 Assyrians in Salmas.[1]
