Michael Zampelas

Cypriot mayor

Michael Herodotou Zampelas (19 March 1937 – 15 May 2019) was a Cypriot businessman, politician and philanthropist. He served as mayor of Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus, from 2002 to 2006. He was named the Honorary Consul General of Estonia in Cyprus in 1997. For his services in the relations between two countries, he was awarded the Order of the National Coat of Arms by the President of Estonia.

Zampelas died on 15 May 2019, at the age of 82.[1]
