Catholic cardinal (1926–2018)

Miguel Obando y Bravo (2 February 1926 – 3 June 2018) was a Nicaraguan prelate of the Catholic Church. He was the Archbishop of Managua from 1970 until his resignation on 12 March 2005. On 25 May 1985, he was selected by Pope John Paul II to be cardinal. He was one of the cardinal electors who participated in the 2005 papal conclave that elected Pope Benedict XVI. He was born in La Libertad, Chontales, Nicaragua.

Obando died in Managua on 3 June 2018 of a heart attack at the age of 92.[1]
