Mohamed Abshir Muse

Major General and the first Commander of the Somali Police Force (1926-2017)

Mohamed Abshir Muse (Somali: Maxamed Abshir Muuse, Arabic: محاميد أبشير موسى), (1 July 1926 – 25 October 2017) also known as Mahamed Abshir Musa, was a well known Somali military person. He was active from 1940s to 1950s. He served General and the first Commander of the Somali Police Force.[1] He was trained at the Carabinieri, Italy's national military training base.[2]

Muse resigned in 1969 from his job at the police force. He was later jailed by the military dictator Siad Barre for speaking out against the regime.[3]

Muse died on 25 October 2017 in Minneapolis, Minnesota aged 91.[4]
