Billy Idol released a cover version of "Mony Mony" in 1981 on his EP Don't Stop. A live recording became a hit for Idol in 1987 and when to number 1 in the United States and Canada, number 8 in Australia, number 7 in the United Kingdom and number 2 in New Zealand.
