Mortimer Caplin

IRS Commissioner and tax attorney (1916-2019)

Mortimer Maxwell Caplin (July 11, 1916 – July 15, 2019) was an American lawyer and educator.[1] He was the founding member of Caplin & Drysdale, Chartered. Caplin served on John F. Kennedy's Task Force on Taxation and in January 1961. He appointed U.S. Commissioner of Internal Revenue.

Caplin was born in New York City, New York. He turned 100 in July 2016.[2] Caplin died on July 15, 2019 in Chevy Chase, Maryland at the age of 103.[3]
