Perro de Presa Canario
Spanish breed of dog
The Perro de Presa Canario is a large Mastiff-type dog breed from the Canary Islands.[1] It was bred for working livestock. Also to run off or kill other dogs.[1] They are often on the list of outlawed dogs in places that ban dangerous breeds.[1] They are a working breed that can weigh 85–130 pounds (39–59 kg).[2] If trained and socialized early they can make a good family pet.[2] They make excellent guard dogs.[2]
The name of the breed is Spanish and means "Canarian catch dog". The name is often shortened to "Presa Canario" or simply "Presa".[3] The breed is sometimes also called Dogo Canario or Canary Dog.[3]
