Pleurisy

pleural disease that is characterized by swelling, due to inflammation of the pleura, the lining of the pleural cavity surrounding the lung or lungs.

Pleurisy (also known as pleuritis) is an inflammation of the pleura, the lining surrounding the lungs.[1] There are many possible causes of pleurisy but viral infections spreading from the lungs to pleural cavity are the most common.[2] Pleurisy can cause sharp pain when breathing, also called pleuritic chest pain.[3][4]
