Ralph Puckett

American military officer

Ralph Puckett Jr. (December 8, 1926 – April 8, 2024) was an American Army soldier and colonel. He led the Eighth Army Ranger Company during the Korean War. He was born in Tifton, Georgia.

Puckett was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions on November 25, 1950, when his company of 51 Rangers was attacked by Chinese forces at the battle for Hill 205.[1][2]

He retired from the United States Army in 1971 as a colonel.

On May 20, 2021, President Joe Biden awarded Puckett the Medal of Honor for his actions in the Battle for Hill 205.[3]

Puckett died on April 8, 2024 at his home in Columbus, Georgia at the age of 97.[4]
