Rekha (Bhanurekha Ganesan,born 10 October 1954) is a Indian actress. She has acted in 182 movies. She has a National Film Award[1] and three Filmfare Awards. In 2010, she got Padma Shri. Her first Hindi movie was Sawan Bhadon (1970). Rekha became a member of the Rajya Sabha in 2012. Her first Hindi movie was Sawan Bhadon (1970). She was one of the leading stars in 1980s and early 1990s.

Rekha born in Madras (presen Chennai)South Indian actors Gemini Ganesan and Pushpavalli, when the couple were unmarried. Rekha did not reveal her family background until mid-1970.Her mother was busy in movies, Rekha stayed with her grandmother. Asked in an interview by Simi Garewal about her father, Rekha believed he was never even aware of his father[2] existence.

Early career

Her first movie Sawan Bhadon(1970) was successful. Other movies like Raampur Ka Lakshman (1972), Kahani Kismat Ki (1973), and Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye (1974) and Dharmatma (1975) were also became hit. Rekha's first good role was with Amitabh Bachchan's in Do Anjaane(1976).
