Richard Schifter
U.S. government official (1923–2020)
Richard Schifter (July 31, 1923 – October 4, 2020) was an Austrian-American lawyer and politician. He was Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs from 1985 to 1992 during the presidencies of Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. Schifter was born in Vienna.
Schifter died on October 4, 2020 at the age of 97.[1]
