Royapuram

Royapuram is a locality (territory or neighbourhood) present in the northern part of Chennai metropolitan city, Tamil Nadu. This area is best known for the Royapuram Railway Station. This is the first railway station of South India. It was opened in 1856. At present it is the oldest surviving railway station of the Indian subcontinent [1] The St. Peter's Church, Royapuram is one of the most important and oldest church in the region.[2] Royapuram fishing harbour is one of the largest fishing harbour in the Coromandel Coast or Eastern coast of India.[3]
