Ruth Messinger
American politician
Ruth Wyler Messinger (born November 6, 1940) is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party as well as the Democratic Socialists of America. She was the Democratic nominee for Mayor of New York City in 1997 losing to Rudy Giuliani. Messinger was the 24th Borough President of Manhattan from 1990 to 1997.
