Séléka
Alliance of Central African Republic Muslim rebel groups
Séléka is an alliance of rebel militias in the Central African Republic.[1] It overthrew the government on 24 March 2013.[2] Its leader is Michel Djotodia. Djotodia has claimed himself to be the new President of the Central African Republic.[3] Most of the members of Séléka are Muslim.
In October 2021, Confirmation of charges hearings against ex-Seleka militiaman Mahamat Saïd opens before the International Criminal Court (ICC). This former militiaman is suspected of crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in 2013 and 2014. This is the first time that a former member of the Seleka has faced the judges of the Court.
