Sahara and Sahel Observatory

The Sahara and Sahel Observatory is a group that works to protect the environment and natural resources in the Sahara and Sahel region of Africa. It was started in 1992. It is based in Tunisia and is made up of 22 African countries, 5 countries outside Africa, and 10 international organizations.[1][2]

Some of the projects the group works on include a network of 25 observatories in 12 countries, a system to warn about drought in the Maghreb region, and a project to manage groundwater in Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia.[3]
