Salome Bey

American-born Canadian singer-songwriter, composer, and actress (1933-2020)

Salome Bey CM (October 10, 1939 – August 9, 2020)[1][note 1] was an American-born Canadian singer-songwriter, composer, and actress. She was born in Newark, New Jersey.

Bey recorded two albums with Horace Silver, and released live albums of her performances with the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir and at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

In 2005, she was made an honorary Member of the Order of Canada.[2]

Bey was a member of the Canadian charity Artists Against Racism.[3]

Bey died on August 9, 2020 in Toronto, Ontario from dementia-related problems, at the age of 80.[4]
