At the time of release, the Galaxy S included the fastest graphics of any smartphone,[4] was the thinnest smartphone at 9.9 mm[5] and was the first Android phone to be certified for HD.[6]

As of 2013, over 25 million Galaxy S units have been sold.[7] The Galaxy S name continued on with the semi-related Galaxy S Plus and Galaxy S Advance smartphones. The next release of the series was the Samsung Galaxy S II, which was released in May 2011.
