Sapa'u Ruperake Petaia

Samoan writer

Sapa'u Ruperake Petaia (born 11 April 1951) is a Samoan poet and writer.

He is known for writing about the effects of colonialism and Western influences on Samoan culture and society.[1]

Petaia was born in Samoa, and studied at the University of South Pacific in Fiji. A collection of his poems called Blue Rain was published in 1980 (among them the poem "Kidnapped"). Another poem called "Patches of the Rainbow" was published in 1992.
