Shukria Asil
Shukria Asil is an Afghan women's rights activist. In 2010 she received the International Women of Courage Award [1][2]

In 2009, Asil saved the jobs of three women teachers in Baghlan. They lost their jobs when the Ministry of Education wrote bad information about them. [3]
In 2010 Asil was one of four women in the Baghlan Provincial Council. In 2012 she was the head of the Baghlan Provincial Culture and Information Department. [4]
Asil also helped a girl who was gang-raped. The girl's family would not accept her. Asil helped the family get together, although the governor of the province said it was not a good idea. [4] She also worked for women's rights, made groups for women, and worked for women's driving schools and education for young girls. She received threats of kidnapping and death for her work. She also had to change her address because of the threats. [5]
