Pharaoh - Moses and Krishna - Kansa

change

Both of them were born in inauspicious times. King Kansa enslaved the people of Mathura and Pharaoh Seti enslaved the Hebrews in Egypt.

Pharaoh and Kansa prophesied that a savior would defeat them. Kamsa was told that his eighth nephew would kill him, so he imprisoned his sister Devaki and her husband Vasudeva and killed all the children Devaki bore. Seti was told that a Hebrew child would grow up, rise up against him and liberate the Hebrews, so he ordered every Hebrew newborn boy to be killed.[3]

Moses and Mrishna had relations with the great enemies of Pharaoh and Kamsa. Kansa was Krishna's uncle and Rameses was Moses' foster brother. Seti was Moses' foster father.[4]

Krishna and Moses had a relationship with God or another deity. Krishna was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Krishna had a brother named Balarama who was also an incarnation of Vishnu. God was with Moses all his life and He protected him from the river and his wanderings. Moses met God on the mountain and God instructed Moses to return to Egypt to free the Hebrews.

At their birth, their parents had to take them home to a river where they would be safe from their opponents. Vasudeva loaded Krishna in a basket and crossed the river Yamuna to the village of Gokula where cowherds lived. Krishna became the son of Yashoda and Nanda there. Yocheved placed Moses in a basket in the Nile and the basket floated to the palace where Moses became the son of Queen Tua and Pharaoh Seti.[5]

After Moses was exiled from Egypt for abusing and killing an Egyptian a Hebrew slave, he lived in Midian where he became a shepherd. Krishna spent his entire childhood in Gokula where people reared cattle.[6]

While Moses was born to a Hebrew slave, he was raised by royal Egyptians. Krishna was born into captive royalty and raised by villagers.

After some time, Moses and Krishna had to go back to their birthplace to free their people. Krishna and Balarama were told by the Akras who lived in the palace of Mathura about the tyranny of their parents and the cruelty of Kamsa. This gave them the determination to leave home. Moses was told by God to go back to Egypt to free the Hebrews and he would be by his side showing Egypt all his wonders. This gave him the resolve to leave Midian after years of hiding.[7]

Krishna confronts his uncle after fighting his wrestlers in a huge arena. Krishna defeats his uncle, ends his tyranny and frees the people of Mathura and his parents. Moses tried to convince Rameses to change his mind by showing him a sign from God: turning his staff into a snake and ten plagues. After the tenth plague, Ramesses finally allowed the Hebrews to go free.
