Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" is a public research university in Sofia, Bulgaria. It is the oldest institution of higher education in Bulgaria.

It was founded on 1 October 1888. The main building was constructed between 1924 and 1934 with the financial support of the brothers Evlogi Georgiev and Hristo Georgiev. Thier sculptures are now featured on its façade. It has an area of 18,624 m2 and a total of 324 premises. The university has 16 faculties and three departments. There are more than 22,000 students. Many are international students, The current rector is Georgi Valchev.[1]
It is ranked as the top university in Bulgaria according to national and international ranking It is constantly among the best 4% of world universities according to QS World University Rankings.
