Stanley Stair
Last veteran of the British West Indies Regiment
Stanley Stair (October 1900 – April 2008) was the last British West Indies Regiment veteran. [1] He joined in Jamaica in 1916. He dug trenches in France. He lied about his age. Of the group of friends he had enlisted with in Jamaica, he was the only one to survive the war.[2] At the end of the war he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
