Stephen Strange (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

Stephen Strange, also known as Doctor Strange, is a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) media franchise. Based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name, he is portrayed by actor Benedict Cumberbatch. The character appears in the movies Doctor Strange (2016), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), and in the television series What If...? (2021-present).

He is a brilliant neurosurgeon who suffered a career-ending injury to his hands in a car accident. Desperate to heal himself, he seeks out the ancient mystic arts and becomes a powerful sorcerer. Throughout his journey, he learns to harness his magical abilities to protect the Earth from mystical threats.
