Talk:Automobile
Structure of article is a bit confusing - it starts out by saying that Cars are different from Buses, Trucks, etc ... but then goes on to describe the features of these other vehicles as if they're just variant parts of the category "Car" rather than distinct from it. Is the original author around to better express how they meant this to work? (Doesn't help that I was linked to this one out of curiosity by seeing that the "Autobus" article talks of buses, coaches etc as being "larger car[s]"...). The word 'car' isn't right
changeI think that somebody should change the name of this article to automobile (because I have no idea how, someone please tell me). I don't think the word 'car' is right for this article, but i'm not sure how to explain it, maybe because it is such a vague term. Cmann600 19:51, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- To change the name of an article, you need to Move it. There is a button at the top of the page that lets you do that. Please remember that we are the Simple English wikipedia, so please stick to a simple name. However, if you feel that car is wrong and automobile is right, then fix it! We need to be simple, not wrong!! Thanks for all your edits here! EhJJTALK 20:21, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with Cmann600, automobiles and cars usually mean the same thing. But sometimes when people talk about cars it excludes SUVs and Crossovers which are also automobiles. And it would also be consistent with the English title of this article. Fafas (talk) 22:08, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I don't agree: "car" is a much simpler and better understood word than "automobile". Macdonald-ross (talk) 19:11, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
- I changed it to "car" because I read that Americans only use "automobile" in formal English. And British people like me call SUVs and Crossovers cars not automobiles. Chidgk1 (talk) 17:58, 29 October 2021 (UTC)

Need a simple diagram
changewouldn't be simpler if all the words, like wheels and this stuff where with a simple drawing of them? isn't this a simple english page? so the simplest way to explain a thing is with images...
- Yes I agree. I think the simplest diagram would be an electric car something like the BEV on slide 22 of this Except for simplicity the regenerative braking should be left out and there could be an electric motor at one or both ends with the battery in the middle. Or maybe like this or this with labels for motor, battery and charging cable (or whatever it is called). But I don't have the skill to draw it.Chidgk1 (talk) 19:19, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
- I have asked here for someone to draw one.Chidgk1 (talk) 07:00, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
