contradiction? change

In the lead we have, "Neoliberalism is characterized by free market trade, deregulation of financial markets, mercantilism and the shift away from state welfare provision."

In the lead of Mercantilism:

"Mercantilism suggests that the ruling government should advance these goals by playing a protectionist role in the economy by encouraging exports and discouraging imports, notably through the use of tariffs and subsidies."

Sounds to me like Mercantilism is the diametric opposite of "free market trade". I am not any kind of economist, so I'll rest with bringing this to the attention of an editor who hopefully is. Hedles (talk) 23:28, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
