I'm thinking the first paragraph of this article is a little bit religious in POV. I wonder if you agree, or if I'm worrying too much. Thanks. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:55, 5 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't have any inside knowledge of this topic. I just added some material from the first para of the English wiki article. Concise OED says "Pharisee: A member of an ancient Jewish sect, distinguished by strict observance of the traditional and written law, and commonly held to have pretensions to superior sanctity". The drift is they thought they were better because they held fast to Jewish traditions and laws. Macdonald-ross (talk) 18:02, 5 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
Not sure what we are hoping to find in the way of sources, especially inline. The English Wikipedia article is using the New Testament Gospels and the Book of Acts, citing 'chapter and verse', which we could for the mention of Paul of Tarsus. (His article here Paul of Tarsus only has a few other websites and nothing inline) This article could be expanded, but as an Antitheist, I am not too keen on using Bible verses; seems like primary sources to me. But as others wish. I am leaving the sources needed tag on. Fylbecatulous talk 13:43, 6 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
It's a tricky problem, how to handle personalities for whom the principal history is Biblical. If you look at earlier versions of this, I tried to soften the religious aspect of Paul substantially. But I did not think it fair to the original editor to remove it entirely. Maybe the text should read, "According to the New Testament (ref), ..." That language would alleviate the need for a different source for that bit of the article. StevenJ81 (talk) 14:44, 6 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
