I realise that this is Simple Wikipedia, but the content of the article reads like primary school whitewash. Far too simplistic, far too parochial. Is the idea of Simple Wikipedia to patronise? 87.112.19.18 02:46, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the edits on the Racial segregation article. Though you do have a point about how basic the article is (of course it does not cover the full spectrum of issues surrounding such an impacting and important chapter in U.S. history) you must understand that people make grammatical mistakes.
As for the substantial issue that you brought up. The article from what I can see has no mention of racial segregation in other countries besides the U.S. except for "In South Africa, native Africans and European settlers were divided [by law] as well." That is something I considered when writing it but I was on an article creating high at the time and had to move on to bigger and better things. Ummm, I suppose that there should definitely be a section on pre-American segregation, like in Europe and what not. If you had any specific points that you feel are important please add them or let me know. Alexbonaro 07:15, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am inclined to agree with the above statements, regarding the state of this article (way too oversimplified), and I am disappointed that almost nothing has been done to improve it, in nearly two years. Where are the mentions of Plessy vs. Ferguson, Rosa Parks, Brown vs. Board of Education, Jim Crow, etc.? Also, it's quite normal to include a hyphen in "African-American". "European American" (or even "European-American") doesn't really say anything in this context, either. It implies that all European races treated one another equally, and they certainly did not; ask anyone descended from Irish, Italian, German or Jewish ancestry. (And whether an English person in history would consider themselves "European" is open to debate.) Please help. Zephyrad (talk) 09:54, 31 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

It starts with a sentence about South Africa, and then compares everything else to that. Racial segregation wasn't invented in South Africa. VirusDontKill (talk) 06:31, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
