Talk:Songkok

Hello, F&F 2024 participant! I have run this text through my readability gizmo. I am getting nothing below ninth grade with an average of eleventh. That usually means that the English is not simple enough for SEWP's intended reader base. You might want to move this article to your userspace as a draft until it's ready for mainspace. Remember, the contest has a time limit, but SEWP itself does not.

I will now read the text with my own brain. I'm seeing a lot of places where the English could be simpler. A few things to remember: You don't have to change it up. You don't have to say "known as" here and "commonly called" there. Just say something to indicate you're talking about names.

Interjection sentences can be less simple: "Agus Salim made the peci, which is another word for the songkok, popular." This could be two sentences.

Don't just work at simplification word by word. Think about what the regular English text in the source is trying to tell the reader and then say that in simple English. There's a reason why we call translations from en.wiki to simple.wiki translations. That's what they are.

Some of the text is not encyclopedic. "We can see," etc. Darkfrog24 (talk) 23:11, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Darkfrog24! Thanks for pointing out the problems. I have simplified the article and believe it should now be simple enough. Could you please review it again? – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 15:13, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay. The way I'm doing things is that before the contest time limit, I don't reject any articles. I only accept. I'm also on the fence as to whether this is folklore. @Haoreima: what do you think? Darkfrog24 (talk) 15:40, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Gizmo is still giving nothing below ninth grade, though the average is now tenth.
"Fancy." What is fancy? It's a word that children use, but it has many interpretations. What does it mean here? You say "special" more than once, and it looks like it means different things each time.
Because the topic is not necessarily folklore, you might be better off concentrating on your many other entries, contest-wise. Darkfrog24 (talk) 15:44, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
The folklore section included pretty much everything: dances, music, activities, games, cuisine, traditional wear, fairy tales, plays, arts, and religion. I wanted to diversify my article creation, but okay, I'll focus on other topics. Thanks! – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 07:46, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
