I think the following is an off-the-cuff POV comment, and I cannot trace the supposed source:

"Many states may only recognize another state if it will help them".

On face, this seems a trivial comment on a rather complex issue. Political ideology and the stability or instability of the region come to mind. They are frequent reasons for a putative state to be not recognised, and neither are included in this sentence. So I took it out. Macdonald-ross (talk) 07:43, 12 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
