Suicide rates change

The WHO data relies on countries to make their own assessments. There are very big differences between the data from different countries. As far as I know, there is no authoritative way to explain this. Either a) some governments collect their data very differently from others. or b) the actual rates of suicides is actually that different.

The second issue is the number of attempts being large as compared to the actual "successes". That may actually be the case. Whatever, our job is to report the facts as they are shown in reliable sources. There is an academic literature related to suicide, and there might be sources there which we could use. Just think in terms of reliable sources. Macdonald-ross (talk) 13:00, 13 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
