Talk:Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Mozart was an "Austrian" composer. All reference books will describe him as such. "Austria" here is being used as a geographical term rather than a political one. The distinction between "Austrian" and "German" is made in all reference books as a geographical term for the period before Napoleon upset things. The Mozart family is described in Groves as an "Austrian family with a German background".(In any case we can't have "an composer")Hikitsurisan 21:51, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please look at the discussion about "Mozart" in the English Wikipedia (46 - "Nationality") or - if you can read the language - the disussion in the German Wikipedia. "Austrian" would be ahistoric.
