Template talk:Cite book

Indentation

change

The indentation on the bullet points seems a bit odd, particularly with Last Name, First Name, Co-Author, etc. Maybe this should be a section on authors, with all of these as sub-parts. Nerfer (talk) 21:01, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Never mind. I got it now, when I re-read the section above. That also explains why my co-authors didn't show up (I don't know who the main author was so I just listed them all as co-authors, and didn't use a "last" field). Nerfer (talk) 21:04, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Weird dot

change

There is a weird dot that appears when this template is used. See the article Coblentz (lunar crater) for example, but it can also be seen on the template page itself at Template:Cite book. - FakirNL (talk) 11:30, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Protected edit request

change

{{editprotected}} Add |vauthors= and |veditors= as aliases of |authors= and |editors= respectively in {{cite book}}. These parameters are supported in the corresponding templates in the regular English Wikipedia. This change has been made in the template sandbox (diff) and tested in the sandbox. The documentation has also been updated here and here.

It has been requested by the Translation Task Force that citation templates be standardized between Wikipedias to make translations easier. Boghog (talk) 10:06, 7 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have made the changes. However, due to this Wikipedia not having migrated to using the citation Lua modules yet, editors will need to remember to abbreviate author names when using |vauthors= and |veditors=; our template will not "auto-correct" illegal Vancouver style, and will not categorise such problems into maintenance categories.
