The Black Cauldron is a 1982 American animated dark fantasy movie based on Lloyd Alexander's Welsh mythology novel series The Chronicles of Prydain. The movie is directed by Ted Berman and Richard Rich, who directed the previous movie The Fox and the Hound.

The movie follows a villager and his allies on a quest to stop the evil Horned King from using the magical Black Cauldron.
It was not popular when it was first released. It is a cult movie. It cost $25 million to make. It earned only $21 million at the North American box office. It is said to be one of the worst box-office failures from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
